Every month I try to find something interesting or profound to discuss in this newsletter that might start a conversation or at least get us thinking about ways in which we can enhance our experience of life.

Lately, we have been bombarded with so much violence and election rhetoric in the news causing so much heaviness in my heart. I’ve had to psych myself up to shake off that intensity to keep it from effecting my teaching. I decided to try something to lift my spirits and it worked so well, I continued it for a couple of weeks. As the students came into class I wrote down on the top of the sign-in sheet…

“What inspires you?”

As we practiced together I asked them to notice the energy created by what they were inspired by; it was palpable. This tangible energy moved through the room, shifting our moods positively and allowing for our bodies and minds to feel the presence of joy.

Today, I received an email from a friend about a book that was recently published encompassing the wisdom of two great sages sharing their insights about life and the shift from despair to joy. Archbishop Desmond Tutu and the Dalai Lama offer “The Book of Joy”.

Here is a short video about their sweet relationship and their purpose for coming together to offer this gift to us at this time: #sharethejoy

It’s my joy to be hosting a cosmic comedian, Swami Beyondananda, next week, Friday, October 7th. Noted author Marianne Williamson has called him “the Mark Twain of our times” because the comedy isn’t just hilariously funny, but also offers sharp social commentary and spiritual perspective.

Gather some friends and family and together we’ll get our laughter rolling, have some fun, and share our joy!
