Michelle Pulich Stewart
RYT-200, CYI
Michelle left her Texas roots for Tempe nine years ago and fell in love with yoga. She was fortunate to meet Christy Burnette and began studying Anusara yoga. John Friend’s elegant system of Anusara continues to bring joy, steadiness and a sense of reverence to her yoga practice. In 2006, she completed Yoga Teacher Training with Christy at Arizona Yoga. This is where she met her Teacher, Meg Byerlein, and began teaching yoga there in 2007. Michelle has also studied with Mary Bruce, Rod Stryker and Erich Schiffman. She recently completed Immersion I, II, and III studies with Meg Byerlein at Desert Song.
Yoga has been a big and joyous part of her journey through pregnancy, and now motherhood, with her young son Axel. The community at Desert Song is one of the outstanding aspects of life in Phoenix, and Michelle finds the prenatal yoga classes especially rich for the sense of community that thrives in them.
Michelle loves the transformative potential of yoga and its teachings and is honored to share this love and sense of wonder with her students. She is especially grateful for the teaching that yoga is much more than asana (the poses). Michelle is interested in the connections between our yoga practices and the world around us, especially wild nature.
When not doing yoga on the mat, Michelle explores outside with her family. Stargazing, hiking around wild places, lying on rocks in the sun, writing, and making art are some of her favorite ‘non-mat’ activities. Michelle teaches Environmental Studies and Geography in the local community colleges.
