<image:caption>I became a Stott Pilates certified teacher in 2009 and completed training in all Pilates apparatus; Matwork, Reformer, Cadillac, Stability Chair and Barrels. I’ve been teaching Pilates full time ever since. I like to work with clients of all ages and different needs in one-on-one sessions, as well as, group classes and workshops. To better assist a client’s individual needs, I attend continuing education courses like Stott Pilates Injuries and Special Populations, Stott Pilates Athletic Conditioning and Thomas Myers’ Anatomy Trains. I have completed Yoga Teacher Training 200-hour level and the Holistic Nutrition Specialist program at South West Institute of Healing Arts. In 2017, I completed instructor training for Tai Chi for Arthritis for Fall Prevention from the Tai Chi for Health Institute and I’m currently learning and practicing Tai Chi Yang style. As a movement teacher, I strive to be effective in my articulation and cuing when leading a session or class, as well as, remaining fully present for my clients and students to better assist them, meet their needs and be ready to change course, if needed. “Let the student/client/the moment, teach me.”</image:caption>

<image:caption>True Healing Acupuncture and Bodywork Contact Lori at her website: www.loritruehealing.com 1130 East Missouri Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85014 I received a BA in Theater many years ago and then, taking a left turn in life, I went to massage school and found that I had a true passion for helping people heal their bodies. I had a great massage career for 30 years working at the Omega Institute in NY and a luxury spa in Scottsdale with the great honor of working on many, many wonderful people including First Lady Michelle Obama and (then) Vice President Joe Biden. As to bodywork, I use my intuition to find areas of tension in the body and bring relief with deep tissue work, reflexology, lymphatic drainage, Tui Na and cupping. I went back to school in 2015 to study Chinese Medicine – a 4-year program - and received my Master of Acupuncture degree and was awarded the Academic Award of Excellence. I got licensed in 2019 and have been seeing acupuncture patients along with my massage clients at Desert Song. In addition to hands-on work, I absolutely love studying physiology and learning about nutrients and how they support the body. This journey has taken me through the world of nutrition and supplements – a lifelong study to say the least. I have, at last, landed on a focus that seems to truly be at the heart of healing the body – the science of body drainage; not necessarily detox but that subtle, daily way that bodies remove wastes from the tissues. I am now doing wellness coaching sessions and recommending a special line of homeopathic remedies from Belgium – the Unda numbered compounds and they really work! All of it is important – food, nutrients, supplements, water but just like the plumbing in your house, if your body can’t eliminate wastes and toxins through primary and secondary channels in the body, it will get clogged up and develop health concerns. I have been a life-long student of the inner workings of the human body. I’ve learned that often when a body is sick, in reality, it is trying to heal itself. If we can find the right way to support the body’s innate intelligence, the body can be set upon the path of healing.</image:caption>

In addition to 10+ years of teaching at Desert Song, I am also a certified Yoga Nidra facilitator and, from time to time, I bring in the gifts of Yoga Nidra. In addition to my teaching at Desert Song, I am one of the founding teachers of the Mindfulness in Law Teacher Training ("MLTT"), the only mindfulness teacher training created by attorneys for attorneys and legal professionals. In MLTT, I work with attorneys and law professors from across the U.S., Europe and South America. Now that Desert Song classes are online, some of these friends join my yoga classes. I love how our Desert Song community is expanding around the world. I like to take my students on an in-depth journey of the mind-body-spirit, while bringing in my sense of humor and light-hearted play. My students appreciate the perspective I have from being a full-time attorney and mother of now-young adults. When I started practicing yoga regularly, I noticed that my stress level decreased, I had more flexibility and strength, and I enjoyed being with others who also wanted what yoga offers. I realized I had found something that I could use for the rest of my life to stay healthy, balanced, curious and connected. In my yoga classes, I share what I've learned, dipping into this lineage for its richness, creating community, and having fun.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I began practicing yoga in 1999 and realized I had come home to myself. I completed the 200-Hour Teacher Training at Desert Song in 2003 and have been teaching ever since. I continued my education to earn both my 500 and 1000-Hour certifications through Integrative Yoga Therapy in 2007. Then went on to complete all Anusara Immersions in 2010 and in 2012, including 100 hours of Anusara teacher training. With a depth of knowledge in Integrative Yoga Therapy and the principles of alignment, my classes are safe, grounding and healing. Most recently in 2015, I became a certified Ayurvedic Practitioner through New World Ayurveda. I also have a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and worked in the human services field for over 17 years. For over 20 years, my yoga practice has been a steady reminder of my inner strength, to breathe and stay present, no matter what life has to offer. I’ve learned a lot from my own practice. Not only from how my body has changed through the years, but also my own injuries. In all of my classes, I will encourage you to listen to your body and modify as you need. I can offer many variations of the poses, making yoga accessible to any student. Remember props make a great partner! I love when students who think they can’t do yoga realize they actually can. I became interested in Ayurveda during my yoga studies and practice. Yoga and Ayurveda are sister sciences dating back thousands of years. They complement each other and guide us toward being our most authentic selves. In learning about Ayurveda, we explore how these sciences come together through asana, pranayama, mudras and meditation, as well as, how we live our daily lives on and off the mat. Off the mat, I am a cat mom. Many of you may have met Surya during one of my Zoom classes. I am an animal lover. One of the best experiences of my life was hanging out with elephants in Thailand! I also enjoy reading, movies, music and dancing. I love to bake and share my creations. Food is love after all. All aspects of my education and training complement each other and support a holistic approach to health and healing in my classes and when I work with students privately. <image:caption>After 25 years as a professional dancer, singer, actress, and choreographer, I felt drawn to pursue a career in bodywork. For many years, I have been on a journey exploring and experiencing the how, what, and why of the ways in which we move and heal. I first became a physical therapist, manual therapist, and Feldenkrais teacher in Germany, where I practiced for 7 years. Upon return to the US in 2006, I received my massage therapy certification from the Cortiva Institute in Scottsdale AZ and a NASM personal training certification in 2007. My interest in yoga and learning more about Eastern perspectives towards health and well-being, led me to complete Desert Song’s Yoga Teacher Training program (also in 2007), and began teaching yoga in 2008. The massage therapy I offer, integrates a variety of very effective techniques in the treatment of soft-tissue dysfunction, pain, injury, stress, and trauma. Bringing many years of study and experience in the fields of massage therapy, physical and manual therapy, exercise science, dance, in combination with Pilates and Yoga, has provided me with the flexibility to customize the soft-tissue techniques/bodywork/yoga to meet your individual needs – from a soothing relaxation massage, to releasing muscles and deeper connective tissues that hold patterns of tension and pain, to relearning efficient, functional movement patterns. My approach to each session is to be ready to listen to your body’s intelligence and wisdom and to assist you in your healing process. I continue to pursue my studies of Craniosacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, Neural Manipulation, Yoga, and Ayurveda. My goal is to be up to date on current treatments and methodologies in these areas, in order to provide my best healing techniques that will allow you attain or retain, optimal health. The modalities and techniques I offer and integrate include: Swedish Massage, Therapeutic Massage, Deep Tissue, Prenatal, Myofascial Release, Muscle-Energy Technique, Postural Release, PNF, Stretching, Thai Massage, Reflexology, Somatic Integration, Myokinesthetic System, Craniosacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, Marma Therapy, and Kineseo Taping. My yoga classes are designed to allow you to explore and discover the inner workings of the poses with ease, while deepening your understanding and experience of your body’s alignment and wholeness. By slowing down, you will sense and feel more clearly where effort is needed and where you are holding unnecessary tension. Attention is also brought to the transitions between the poses where habitual movement patterns can lead to injury. You will find ways to organize your body to move with more ease, strengthen core muscles, improve flexibility, and learn to reduce and eliminate pain. The study and practice of yoga brought me an appreciation of the importance of alignment. A key to alignment is bringing together body and mind through awareness. Gentle movement and directed attention develop this self-awareness. A slower pace creates space to listen and feel within, which will enhance your experience of the fundamental, foundational, and energetic aspects of the poses. My heartfelt gratitude extends to all of my amazing teachers for their inspiration and teachings, as well as to the instructors from the many workshops I attended through the years, all have enriched my practice and my teaching.</image:caption>

As a new mom more than a decade ago, I took my first classes while trying to find time for myself amidst the busy demands of parenting and work. I’ve been exploring this balancing act and learning to live with more ease, self-compassion, and joy ever since. Yoga has taught me effective ways to manage stress, broaden my perspective, improve the quality of my sleep, and be a loving parent. My classes include asana, meditative movement, breathing exercises, energy awareness, mudras, and deep rest. I offer pose variations and teach with props to support students of varying ages and abilities. I use a hands-off approach and rely instead on verbal cues and demonstration to guide students. Each class provides opportunities to reduce mental chatter, breathe with awareness, and build strength. The calming and organizing effects of yoga extend well beyond the time we spend on our mats. I trained at Desert Song Healing Arts Center in 2012 and have taught at Desert Song and in nonprofit and corporate settings ever since. Most recently, my focus has expanded to include offering yoga nidra for medical students at University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix and yoga for healthcare providers at Mountain Park Health.</image:caption>

<image:caption>What started for me in 2004 as “Physical Education 165: Yoga,” a PE class held in the wrestling room at a university, continues today as a lifelong passion. Since then, I’ve explored many styles and approaches to yoga, including a 200-hour teacher training in the Ashtanga-vinyasa tradition at Moksha Yoga Center in Chicago in 2016. I believe yoga has unique potential to slow us down in a busy, distraction-driven world and open our hearts to compassion toward ourselves and others. My classes connect breath and movement through creative, dynamic flow, and I love exploring asanas with props. Yoga was invaluable to me before and after the birth of my daughter, Imogen, in 2017, and I am passionate about its power to provide balance and confidence to new mothers. Off the mat, I am a director at a non-profit health technology network that serves federally qualified health centers across the US. I relish every moment I spend with my daughter, husband, and morning cup of coffee. I welcome all yogis — newbies, gurus, and everything in between — to practice with me in our Desert Song community.</image:caption>

<image:caption>In the late 90’s I left the corporate culture of New York city to become a massage therapist through the Swedish Institute of Massage. The immersion into healing arts and eastern modalities led me to Iyengar Yoga. I came to Arizona in 2001 and a year later joined the massage/management staff at Desert Song Healing Arts Center. In 2003 I received my yoga teacher training certification from their 200-hr program. There’s been no break in study or teaching from then to now, just an ever-evolving application of this incredible method. What a gift to have students in all stages and phases of life, proving that Yoga meets us where we are in our youth and old age, as beginner and advanced, injured and healthy, open hearted and processing grief. My teaching style is informed by the 8 Limb philosophy as presented in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, wherein we recognize asanas (poses) as one of eight steps in our work toward consciousness. <image:caption>Twenty-plus years of yoga has taught me to “embrace change”, which can be seen by the fact that I never teach the same class twice. Variety and moving into the unknown take us out of our comfort zone, increasing both our abilities and our level of self-awareness. Coming from a corporate environment, I use concise instruction to meet you where you are and make every class entertaining, challenging and new. As an eternal student, I allow my practice and teaching to evolve with injuries, illness and life changes, seeing the joy in the journey. I embrace all levels and ages of students, taking great pleasure in being your guide.</image:caption>

<image:caption>For over four decades, I have studied yoga and had the honor to teach for more than 35 years. I’ve studied with some of the greatest teachers in the world and have been mentored by modern sages of yoga, meditation and bodywork. I will always be eternally grateful for their guidance, wisdom and love. I received my first 500-hours certification at Ananda’s Yoga Center in Nevada City, CA. Ananda is a residential, spiritual community specializing in Kriya Yoga which incorporates yoga techniques to prepare the mind and body for deep mediation. My continued studies include: Iyengar Yoga, a form of hatha yoga, with emphasis on alignment and therapeutics, Anusara Yoga focused on the philosophy of movement and breath-work supported by the Universal Principles of Alignment, and Kriya Yoga offering cleansing practices involving breath-work intended to rapidly accelerate spiritual development and tranquility. Several years ago, I became certified in the advance levels of the Integrative Amrit Method of Yoga Nidra. In class, I share my love and knowledge of energetics, pranayama, philosophy and meditation techniques promoting a full spectrum approach to the Yoga practice. With a foundation of therapeutics and a seasoned intuitive teaching style, my classes tend to be spiritual, creative and fun. I am also a licensed massage therapist in the Edgar Casey method of massage. The combination of these modalities forms the foundation of my teaching and bodywork. Desert Song is a harmonious blend of these practices and philosophies creating a unique experience for all who practice with us or receive healing care from us. For me, Yoga is a way of life, a way of being in the world. This passion became the foundation for the Desert Song community. Working with my husband, Vince, and our dedicated staff with their unique talents and gifts, we built Desert Song into the healing arts center that it is.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Heidi seeks to shift our culture’s approach to ourselves, the earth and each other by pursuing an evolution in yoga and movement with a philosophy of mindfulness and compassion. Consider the idea of partnering with the wisdom of your body and the wisdom of nature. Shifting the goals of fitness to prioritize better outcomes that support longevity, resilience and feeling good in your own skin. It is time for a revolution that moves us to ask why we are doing what we are doing, how we are going about it, and to what end. Join Heidi in exploring these ideas with a mix of fun and creative movements as well as time for relaxation and sacred contemplation. Contact Information: To Find out more about Heidi’s Live Stream Online Classes (Recordings Available) please email Heidi hlyogini@yahoo.com or Call 602.550.8487 I have had the joy and honor of teaching yoga for 22 years. Personally, yoga has helped me be more conscious and present in my life. It has taught me to be with the whole picture of what it means to be human; love, loss, illness, aging, vulnerability, growth and change. This practice began to stabilize my injury prone body, improve my posture and helped me create a healthier relationship with myself. My focus as a teacher is to encourage a new way of thinking, moving and inhabiting our bodies. I share these practices with an aim to empower students and increase their own personal agency on the mat and in life. My continued studies include therapeutic effects and best practices of yoga, promoting joint health with functional movement, releasing long held patterns through somatic practices and fascia remodeling, finding ease in our bodies through natural alignment theory, and exploring a wide breadth of mind-body techniques including the I AM Method of Yoga Nidra. I am able to teach what I love because of the wisdom, encouragement and open hearts of all of my extraordinary teachers through the years. I am here to support your well-being and welcome you as you are. I offer my commitment as a lifelong student to share what I've learned about self-care, self-compassion and how to continue to move well at every stage in life.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Teaching since 2003, I am a highly experienced certified yoga teacher. My style blends down-to-Earth practicality and playful light-heartedness. Foundational to my teaching is a deep conviction of yoga as a living practice. My career is diverse and includes classes in studios, the great outdoors, offices, senior living communities and private instruction. I enjoy working with students of all ages and abilities. Committed to ongoing studentship, I received thousands of hours of education in the art and science of teaching yoga, therapeutic applications, philosophy, Yoga Nidra and Ayurveda. My yoga is enriched by the fullness of my eclectic background: a degree in Geography from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, park ranger for the National Park Service (National Mall, Washington D.C. and Grand Canyon), outdoor education counselor, a ten-year executive career in Girl Scouting (Utah and Arizona) and river guide.
