In the late 90’s I left the corporate culture of New York city to become a massage therapist through the Swedish Institute of Massage.  The immersion into healing arts and eastern modalities led me to Iyengar Yoga.  I came to Arizona in 2001 and a year later joined the massage/management staff at Desert Song Healing Arts Center.  In 2003 I received my yoga teacher training certification from their 200-hr program. There’s been no break in study or teaching from then to now, just an ever-evolving application of this incredible method.

What a gift to have students in all stages and phases of life, proving that Yoga meets us where we are in our youth and old age, as beginner and advanced, injured and healthy, open hearted and processing grief.

My teaching style is informed by the 8 Limb philosophy as presented in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, wherein we recognize asanas (poses) as one of eight steps in our work toward consciousness.  Students can expect breathwork, meditation, chakra study, physical alignment and philosophy during our sessions.

I welcome you to view my teaching schedule at evonhart.com.  I remain committed to the growth of a thriving community where we can share this path.  All are welcome!
